Our Mission

BEAST is a performance training program designed to improve athletic skills, build character, and develop technique. As sports are ever changing, the athletic training should match the new developments in the them. Lessons taught at BEAST will incorporate skills conducive to a successful transition in any level of competitive sports. Athletes will also benefit from trailblazing coaches that know what it takes to be successful on and off the field. The lessons taught at BEAST will drive athletes to see beyond physical and mental limitations and be conquerors of their dreams.

IFL's All Time Leading Tackler

Tyler Knight is the Director of BEAST Academy. Tyler Knight is certified through USA Football for coaching both tackle and flag football and is also a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer. Knight earned his B.S. in Business Administration while at Mississippi Valley State University 2003-2008. Coach Knight has been teaching athletic performance for 8 years. Knight spent two seasons at Lincoln High School as a Linebackers coach and is the current Defensive Coordinator at Sioux Falls Christian. 

“I believe the future starts with teaching, molding, and developing. The best gift is sharing how to play the game safely, intelligently, and with a thorough understanding of the schematics. Coach Knight believes there are some pivotal aspects to play the game this way, and “they are alignment, assignment, and technique”. Coach Knight is a wholehearted believer that if you can execute those consistently, there is an increased chance for both team and individual success. Knight had a very extensive playing career, which has aided in his philosophies and wealth of knowledge about the game of football.

Knight was recognized as the Mississippi Valley State Male Athlete of the Year in 2005. Knight is 1 of 7 athletes to become a NCAA All-American in football at Mississippi Valley State, a list that includes NFL Hall of Fame Athlete Jerry Rice. Knight was a Don Hansen 1st Team All-American in 2005, SBN Sports Black College All-American in 2005, a Sports Network All-American in 2005, a Black College All-American in 2005, and selected to the NCAA 1-AA Southwest All-Region Team in 2005. Knight was also recognized as the SWAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2005. Knight was named to the All-SWAC Team three times 2004-2006. Knight started as a true freshman and was a 4 Year Lettermen and three-time Captain. Knight was recently ranked #11 All-Time in Mississippi Valley State’s Top 100 Greatest football athletes.

Professionally Knight played with the Arkansas Diamonds in 2010, Kansas City Command in 2012, and Sioux Falls Storm 2011, 2013-2017. Knight was selected as a Team Captain four times, All-IFL five times, and Defensive Player of the Year back to back in 2013 and 2014. Tyler currently holds the Sioux Falls Storm franchise record for blocked kicks, tackles in a game, and is tied for first in forced fumbles. Knight is currently the IFL All-Time Leader in Career Tackles. Knight is a 5x National Champion, and helped the Sioux Falls Storm amass a 79-9 Record in his 6 Seasons with the team. Tyler is a native of Little Rock, AR and is the father of a beautiful daughter Tierra Knight.
